What is Total Knee Replacement?

Total knee replacement, or TKR, also called knee arthroplasty, refers to a surgical procedure in which a knee joint affected by arthritis is resurfaced with an artificial implant (prosthesis) designed to relieve pain, enhance mobility, and restore the function of the knee. People suffering from severe arthritis or knee joint damage undergo the procedure in an effort to improve their overall knee health.
